Michael Anton Herbert

Michael Anton Herbert is a freelance Photographer's Assistant based in Chicago. He holds a BFA from the College of Visual Art and Design at University of North Texas and an Associates degree in photography from Kilgore College. Michael's photography has been recognized and supported by a number of private organizations and public institutions including the Jimmy D. Stewart Scholarship in Photography and the DeGolyer Grant from and the Dallas Museum of Art. He has assisted dozens of photographers from Dallas to New York to Chicago. Through working for a wide range of photographers specializing in food, fashion, event, advertising, architecture, product and editorial, Michael has developed expertise with a diversity of professional photo equipment setups and work flows. He is familiar with a variety of 4x5 rail and field cameras, Hasselblad, Canon and Nikon digital SLRs and Sinar and Phase One digital backs. Michael is trained and experienced in studio portraiture and tabletop strobe lighting techniques as well as lighting for location portraiture and architecture using Lowell Hotlights and Dyna-lite, Broncolor, Profoto, and Speedotron strobe power packs.
